Louisiana Twin Photographer - Newborn Photographer - Best Newborn Photographer in Shreveport

Mama gave me complete creative freedom. She didn’t care what colors I used, and whenever I get my choice of colors I stay far away from traditional blue and pink. I do those so much it’s just fun to do things differently sometimes! I absolutely love using GREEN with girls, and I think it turned out well using green for boy/girl twins! Adding in a hint of pink pulled it together.

Most of the time I’ll start my newborn sessions with my ‘white set’ or my ‘simply baby set’ as I like to call it. If baby isn’t sleepy or needs help getting settled, I’ll always start with a wrapped set, and I get a lot of variation with my white set so it’s a good place to start. I knew I wanted to do individual of the babies in each wrapped set and then combos too. Sister gave me lots of smiles, but also kept peeking at me - it was pretty funny. Mom and I kept laughing at her. Brother on the other hand was super sweet, as boys typically are. He was sleepy and went with whatever I wanted.

I think it’s so cool, even with identical twins, how you can tell with detail images which baby is which. I LOVE detail images. You just forget allllll of those itty bitty things, and these images will bring you right back.

My newborn studio is located in Shreveport, Louisiana conveniently off of interstate 20. I offer private parking, professional hair and makeup on site AND complimentary to my clients, a client closet full of just about anything your heart could desire for your portraits and of course alllll the the things baby needs during the session (you'll bring milk and paci and i'll hand the rest!).

I am already booking due dates into November 2023 so if you’re reaching your second trimester it isn’t too early to reach out and start the conversation about booking your due date with me. Most of my clients end up booking one of my ‘pick’ packages because most of them book maternity + with me. This sweet baby girl. Her Mama is obsessed with boho, but with a Texas twist. Boho is totally my style. My studio has been that way for 5+ years, and I’m so glad that Alyissa found me for her maternity and newborn sessions. We actually did Mama’s maternity session outside by the bayou and she wore some of my gowns. In one of them she added a pair of her boots and some western jewelry and it was absolutely precious!

Plants, got those coming out of my ears. Textures, they are everywhere. I think you get the idea, we’ve got the boho covered.

Now, don’t worry. If you aren’t into boho, I can meet you where you are. We can do simple family portraits on a solid background or we can even use my glam room ( it has a black bed, grey couch, fancy stuff) for a more high end look. Whatever you want Mama, I GOT YOU. Want fresh and bright and airy? I can do that too! Whatever look you want, I’ve got it in my 2000 square foot studio.

Alyissa brought in this chunky sweater, and I need it in EVERY SINGLE COLOR. She took Ruby’s announcement photo in it, in the hospital, and really wanted me to incorporate it into her newborn portraits. I knew EXACTLY what to do. I utterly obsessed with this image. I really need to print it for my office, and I really need to order a few of these sweaters for my newborn closet too!

As always I took care of mom’s hair and makeup. My on staff artist, Hailey, was on hand the day of Ruby’s session to pamper Mama. Alyissa ended up wearing a dress of her own because she already lives the boho lifestyle, but if she didn’t have anything to wear she couldn’t have raided my client closet. It’s full of gorgeous items for any style. :)

Sometimes babies cry during family photos. I actually have started spitting the session up, especially if there are siblings. I do some table work with baby first, then family photos, then move to props. Sometimes by the end of the session the baby is just about tired of my games and then adding in family on top of that just isn’t the ticket. Parents always want those sweet family photos and I have to be mindful of my clients wishes when I am planning the session, and then I have to go with the flow sometimes too.

Boston was a good baby. He slept for most of his session. He was so done with me by the end of it though. I always plan a ‘wish set’ for my newborn sessions. If I don’t get to do it, it’s okay. It all depends on baby.

Mama got to be pampered by Hailey for hair and makeup, and dad and sister waited until closer to family photo time to head up to the studio. This gives mom a full little break from mom duties for a while. I have baby and dad brings the siblings up later. I think moms like having the chance to watch me work with their new baby without anyone else around. They just sit and watch me and oooooo and ahhhhh. It’s the best!

Boston’s sister, Daisy, was super proud of her baby brother. She absolutely glowed while I was taking their sibling photos. She even got to wear two different outfits and a sweet little headband her Mama brought along. She felt like a little princess and loved holding her baby brother. Those photos are some of my favorites from the session!

The Ebarbs are THE CUTEST! They are also chicken farmers, and I find that to be pretty cool. The world needs all kinds of people and professions to keep it going and I love that the Ebarbs are dedicated to a field that isn’t for the weak. I can’t even imagine the early mornings they go through.

They brought their adorable little boy in for family photos a few months ago. I’ve been so behind on blogging, but we are working on it! Sometimes getting current galleries out to my clients is more important, but blogging in necessary too! He actually slept really well during his session, even when all of his siblings were there. I think he was already used to the noise from his two older brothers. They are equally adorable.

Mom got to sit in Hailey’s chair for hair and makeup while I got started on pictures. Typically, I take baby to start portraits while Mom is getting hair and makeup done. If baby is hungry when you arrive we let you feed him, or I’ll end up bringing him back to you if he is fussy and wants to eat. Some of our Mamas are bottle feeding and when that is the case I end up feeding the baby for you. It’s a nice little break! You get pampered, get a break and some parents even take a nap in our comfy chairs. I’ve even had Dads fall asleep on the bed in the studio. I know you are so tired, so I get it.

Mom AND sister got to both wear coordinating dresses from my client closet for family photos. This part helped elevate some stress off of Mama, she didn’t have to go shopping! How cool is that?!

It’s seriously THE BEST when it’s sunny outside for a newborn session. Natural light is my favorite way to shoot, especially lifestyle family images like the ones you see below.

Roxanne came to me for her maternity and newborn sessions, aren’t her babies the cutest? Hers are a lot like mine in the way that they look so different. My four boys are almost carbon copies, but my girl looks completely different. I love how Landry looks like her Mama and Owen like his Daddy!

Sister was super chill for most of her session, except the end when she was over my little games lol. I started her session with table poses (the first images you see below) which is the opposite of what I normally do. I normally start wrapped, but sister was so sleepy to begin with that I decided to take advantage of it. I kind of like shooting that way, and I’ve tried it again since and it worked out there too!

Roxanne got her hair and makeup done by my in-house artist, Hailey. Hailey has been with me for 18 months now as my exclusive artist and she’s got her own little studio space now! It’s so pretty too and so her. :) She can even wash and blow out your hair for your session if you want! We just love pampering our Mamas. :) We even provide dresses for our Mamas for newborn sessions. I try to make it as easy as possible. :)

I seriously have the most adorable babies in studio!!! I feel like they have all looked different lately too. So many people say babies look all alike, but I totally disagree. Maybe it’s because I LOVE babies and I get to stare and fret over yours for a few hours, but they all look different to me.

Briar’s Mama and Daddy came to see me for maternity portraits before he arrived. Mama has the most beautiful hair and Daddy has the cutest smile. Briar is definitely a copy of his Mama, and I’m betting he’s going to be so pretty just like her! He was super sweet during his time in the studio. We started off with wrapped poses because he was a little fussy when we first started. Wrapping is a good trick to get babies to settle and into the deep sleep we’d prefer them in for the poses where they aren’t wrapped. Once he was asleep, he was out for basically the whole time. He gave me lots of good shots, and his family photos with Mama and Daddy are so good! They are the most beautiflul family and I hope to see Briar again as he grows up. :)

The studio has the most beautiful natural light, I’m really obsessed with it. I’ve been specializing in newborn photos for more than 5 years and I’ve always done a lifestyle style of family photos, and I’m so excited to announce that I am now able to offer a Lifestyle Newborn Session all of the time.

These sessions take less time, because baby is wrapped for most of the session. Baby is also able to be in a natural environment and we capture natural posing as well. She might have always stuck her left hand up in the womb, she’ll probably do that during the session too and I’ll get to capture that. How special will it be to look back on that as she gets older, maybe show it in the slideshow at her rehearsal dinner.

We will still get detail images of lips, lashes, toes and fingers along with gorgeous images of your family with the new addition.

I do my best to make sure the entire experience is as easy as possible for my parents. We have a toy area for older siblings with books, coloring activities and toys for all ages. We even have a stocked fridge with drinks, snacks and treats. Mom can even add on hair and makeup styling by our licensed stylist. Let us handle the fuss, you just show up and relax while we capture your memories.

You’ll be in studio about an hour and then we will meet in person 3-5 days later for an image reveal appointment; we can also do this over zoom. If you’d prefer an online gallery so that you can view in your own time, an additional fee is required. I can also promise you that you’ll LOVE more than 8 images, so just prepare yourself. :)

Sarah and Dylan are the cutest couple, and don’t you just LOVE that they named their baby girl Anastasia?! I don’t think I’ve had that name in studio, EVER!

Anastasia was perfect for me during her session. She didn’t wake at all. She had that adorable little baby snore, that just makes me swoon. I loved every second with her and all the baby snuggles.

Mama wore a dress from my client closet and dad brought a couple of different shirts and let me pick what he wore, and his hair was epic. Mama’s hair and makeup was provided by my studio stylist, Hailey. I try to take care of everything for my parents, so that they don’t have another stress when it comes to their first family photos. I think the whole process should be easy for you, the client.

Shreveport Newborn Photographer - Twin Newborn Photographer, Leslie Whitaker - 5 Ways to help your session go smoothly.

Babies change SO fast! Sometimes it seems like by the hour, especially those first couple of days. From one week to the next, your baby will change SO DANG MUCH. Keep reading to find my tips on how to make your newborn session go smoothly.

Feeding - Breast or Formula, it doesn’t matter to me. Feed in best in my opinion, but IF you’re breastfeeding PLEASE avoid caffeine 24-48 hours before the session. Also avoid spicy food, broccoli, or anything else that seems to make baby gassy. Feed baby before you leave for the session, and give gas drops before you put baby in the car seat (if you’re not into this, that’s ok - it will just help to settle baby’s belly so that we get those adorable sleepy poses). Bring at least one feeding, if you’re bottle feeding so that I can top baby off if she gets hungry. I’ll probably need to feed her at least once, especially if we are doing unwrapped poses.
Paci - even if you don’t think baby ‘likes’ his paci.. bring it anyway! If you aren’t using a paci, that’s ok too… but in my experience the session goes SO much better if we have this option.
Carseat - leave baby in her carseat, and allow me to take her out. Don’t worry, I’ll be super satanized and I’ll be wearing a mask throughout your session. I don’t smell like mom or dad, and most of the time baby will stay asleep if I take her out of the carseat.
How to dress baby - I always begin my session with ‘simple whites’. So, you’ll bring baby pre-dressed in a white cotton onesie (short sleeves, long, sleeveless- doesn’t matter). If we have to dress her when you arrive, I may not get those precious stretches, yawns and natural images I’m looking for. :)
Try not to be nervous - I promise I have you covered. No matter what, I’ll do my very best to fulfill your expectations. My studio is stocked with everything baby needs (including pacis, gas drops and diapers - just in case you forgot).

Ela is such a sweet blessing. Her parents, Lauren and Eli, are SMITTEN with her. Eli has the biggest smile when he looks at her, and when he looks at Lauren too.

I get so many parents who are having their second baby who regret not getting newborn images for their first baby, and they are determined to have the works the second time. We do maternity photos and newborn and sometimes even an extra family session, or in home fresh 48 session too! Don’t regret missing out on documenting these milestones. You can’t go back and do them, so make sure to get them done right the first time.

Every single baby is documented in this timeless way, and parents always choose at least one of these images, but most of the time three of four. There is something about the focus being directly on baby that every one loves, especially me! Doesn’t Ela look so perfect, just like this?

I love documenting details! Ela’s profile, her sweet little hand and her toes! So precious, and things that deserve to be captured during every newborn session in my studio.

Parent images are so special too! I don’t think I’ve had any parents skip this part in a LONNNNNNG time. Motherhood is special. Motherhood is hard too. Pregnancy isn’t always rainbows, though it can be. The best part is you forget all of the hard stuff after baby is born, why else would we do it again?

I’ve know Charde’ for a long time, well at least 5 years. I first met her when she hired me to take her headshots. She was starting a wedding planning business and needed some marketing maternity. That seems like a 100 years ago. Since then I’ve been her engagement, wedding and now maternity photographer. I was so excited when her husband, Andy, texted me to set something up as a surprise for Charde’.

This will be Charde’s second baby, a sweet boy. And, he doens’t have a name yet! If i’m honest we didn’t name our third baby until a couple of hours before we left the hospital. In Louisiana you can leave the hospital without a name, and you have 30 days to figure it out and file for the birth certificate, but I DID NOT want to deal with all that! So, I texted my husband while he was gone to pick up the older kids and told him to send me 3 names, and I’d choose one. LOL

Hopefully Charde’ wont have to deal with that, it’s not any fun not having a thing with your baby’s name on it for his birth day. I can’t wait to meet her sweet boy, and I hope he’s as sweet as Amilia. She’s a complete doll, every time I see her.

Daniel, aka Dani, might be the REAL Superman. He was born early, and on his due date had surgery on his little heart. Before his smash we did some photos to celebrate his journey too. Mama called it his ‘heartiversary'. Yoana has been coming to me since her oldest was brand new.

I hand made Daniel’s city backdrop and built his balloon swag too. :) I am so stinking obsessed with this one. It came out perfectly and the colors POP off of the white background. This cake smash is adorable all the way around.

Covid-19 has changed many of the ways we live our life. I'd love to hear from you how it has directly affected your pregnancy. Do you feel like you've missed out on anything during your pregnancy with Noah that you'd hoped for? Do you recall any emotional differences related to the changes you faced towards the end of your pregnancy?

Covid-19 took away so much planned during my pregnancy. With so much changing with the hospital guidelines I was pushed to give in and be induced with my son to not risk having my husband missing out on his birth. I wasn’t allowed to have any family visit me during my stay and my photographer couldn’t be there as well. It was really emotional not having my mother with me as well to meet my son. She honestly didn’t get to meet him until he was 9 weeks old.

How was your hospital stay? Do you recall any differences in processes, how you were treated, etc. compared to your birth plan? How did those differences make you feel?

I honestly loved my hospital stay. I was treated so good by the staff. They helped me understand everything that was going on and I lucked out and got a family friend as my nurse. I couldn’t have done it without Brandi or my husband Michael.

Where was Noah born and at how many weeks gestation? How old was your baby on the date of his session?

Noah was born at Willis Knighton Bossier at 39 weeks. We did his newborns at 6-7 weeks!

What were you nervous about going into your session?

I was nervous about Noah not cooperating and taking him out the house.

What was your favorite part of your session experience?

Being pampered with hair and makeup while Leslie took care of Noah for his session.

How do you feel now that you have completed your session and received your images?

I am so happy! I have been so excited to have these to share with my family 💙
