Sweet Newborn Session in Shreveport Studio | Leslie Whitaker Photography
There is nothing sweeter than welcoming a new baby into the studio for their very first portraits. This little guy was pure perfection, curled up and cozy in soft greens, blues, and neutral tones. His session included everything from simple wrapped poses to snuggly fabric drapes and tiny props that kept the focus on his precious features.
The beauty of newborn sessions is that they freeze the details parents never want to forget—the pouty lips, the curled fingers, and the squishy cheeks that change so quickly in those first weeks. My goal is always to create timeless images that not only look beautiful today but will also bring back all the emotions of these early days when looked at years from now.
For this gallery, we styled a mix of poses:
Green tones for calm and organic images
Blues for a classic, timeless feel
Neutrals to keep the attention on baby’s natural beauty
Every baby brings their own little personality into the studio, and I love creating a flow that keeps them comfortable and sleepy while we capture these once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Extended Family Newborn Session with Baby Girl | Shreveport Newborn Photographer
There are sessions that feel extra special—and this was one of them. This wasn’t just a classic newborn session. It was a celebration of generations coming together to welcome a brand-new life.
This sweet baby girl was surrounded by so much love in my Shreveport studio. Her parents brought both sets of grandparents to the session—one set visiting all the way from Italy, and the other from India. It was beautiful to witness and even more meaningful to document. These were some of the first portraits they would ever have all together, and the emotion in the room was palpable.
We began with baby-led posing in soft, neutral tones—creamy whites, warm browns, and soft grays that let her delicate features shine. She wore a cozy bear romper and was swaddled in textured wraps from my curated wardrobe. As always, everything needed for baby was provided in-studio, so the family could simply relax and enjoy the moment.
We photographed baby girl solo first, then brought in the grandparents for generational portraits that feel timeless and emotional. Watching each grandparent hold her for the first time in front of my lens was incredibly moving. These are the kinds of images that become heirlooms—the ones their family will look back on for years to come.
What I love about extended family newborn sessions is the way they expand the story. It’s not just about a baby’s first days, but the people who waited, prayed, and traveled across the world to be part of her welcome.
If you’re expecting and hoping to include family in your session, don’t hesitate to ask. I love capturing multi-generational moments that reflect just how deeply loved your baby is.

Soft Tones and Sweet Smiles – Studio Newborn Session in Shreveport
Some babies just seem to melt right into their little setups, and this sweetheart made it look effortless. From the moment she arrived at the studio, I knew we were in for a beautiful session. Her full head of dark hair, gentle smile, and content spirit created an absolutely dreamy collection.

We began with soft blues for a classic newborn look. I love how peaceful she looked wrapped in a ribbed knit with a floral headband, so simple, yet so striking. One of my favorite parts of every newborn session is capturing a macro close-up. Those little lips, tiny pores, and delicate peach fuzz never stay this small for long.
Next, we added a tiny knit bear for a little extra sweetness. It’s amazing how these tiny touches can give such personality to the final gallery. After a quick swaddle change, she snuggled right back in and let us change setups without even a stir.
Her pink-toned set felt soft and feminine with a hint of vintage charm. The lace romper and floral headband paired perfectly against the warm blush backdrop. She even gave us a smile mid-session, and I couldn’t have asked for better timing.

To wrap things up, we swaddled her in white and let her settle into a relaxed, seated pose, finished with a dreamy green basket look surrounded by houseplants. I love incorporating texture and natural elements when we can. This gallery is full of variety while still feeling soft and cohesive throughout.
Every newborn session is different, but when a baby settles like this one did, I feel so honored to do what I do. These are the little moments families will remember forever.

In-Home Newborn Session with Family | Shreveport Newborn Photographer

There’s something sacred about being welcomed into a family’s home just days after they’ve welcomed a new baby. It’s an honor I’ll never take lightly — and this session reminded me why I love in-home newborn photography so much.
This beautiful family of four invited me into their warm and peaceful space to document their newest little one. The soft beige tones, natural light filtering through the windows, and quiet joy of early parenthood made the perfect backdrop.

Mom and baby shared some tender moments curled up on the couch, while big sister proudly leaned in for snuggles and introductions. The way she gently reached for her baby sister melted me. Dad’s calm, quiet presence added such a grounding energy to the session — and those sweet shots of him holding her with such care? Instant favorites.
