There is something so sweet about a simple newborn session. No distractions just soft color gentle posing and the tiniest details that remind you how it feels to hold a brand new baby in your arms. This entire session flowed so easily. Baby settled instantly and loved being wrapped which gave us time to mix in neutral browns creamy whites and little touches of color like sage and blue.

These soft neutral sessions work beautifully for babies of any age and they create such a timeless look for your walls and albums. My approach is always comfort first. Every wrap and every pose is designed to support baby naturally and safely. When they’re relaxed you can see it in their little expressions those tiny smiles and the slow deep breaths that tell you they’re content.
We captured a blend of classic wrapped poses on textured fabric dreamy shots on white flokati and a cozy basket setup surrounded by greenery. I also love including macro images in every gallery. Meet Leslie Whitaker | Shreveport’s Luxury Maternity & Newborn Photographer
Hi, I’m Leslie Whitaker; mama of five, photographer of mamas, and your biggest cheerleader when it comes to preserving the beauty of motherhood.
I’m based in Shreveport, Louisiana, and specialize in luxury maternity, newborn, and baby photography. My goal? To create an experience that’s as meaningful as the images themselves. From bump to baby, I’m here to help you feel seen, celebrated, and supported.
A Little About Me
Before I picked up a camera, I studied fine art and trained in culinary school. I’ve always been drawn to creative work, whether it’s plating food or styling a maternity session. My photography journey began after my first child was born. Like so many new moms, I was desperate to hold onto every detail, and photography became my way of freezing time.
Since then, I’ve turned this passion into a full-time business, photographing hundreds of families. I’m proud to say I’ve been voted Best Photographer in Shreveport for three years in a row—and even prouder that so many of my clients come back again and again as their families grow.

Motherhood is raw and beautiful. It’s both sacred and chaotic. And it deserves to be documented with care.

Allison and her sweet family came into the studio last month for their maternity photos and they’ve already been back for their newborn photos too! Baby was born at 38 weeks. :)

They waited to find out what baby was, boy or girl, until HE was born. They weren’t even certain on names. I think that is so much fun, so exciting.
They have three other kiddos, and they made the session so much fun. They were really well behaved.
We started the session with my cream gown that has a flowing train. Dad even got to throw it for me, it wasn’t his first time and he was pretty good at it! I love the images of mom with the train flying behind her. I even used a digital background to give her gallery even more variety! Digital backgrounds have come a long way and there are some gorgeous ‘rooms’ to use now. We took maternity pictures of just mom, some of the whole family and then photos of mom with each kiddo. We did maternity photos in 5 different looks and mom ended up loving all of them.
Mom got her hair and makeup done for her session just down the hall from my portrait studio with my staff artist Hailey Kilpatrick. Hailey is seriously the best artist around. She also does a ton of weddings too, but spends her week days with me at the studio. Her little space is so cute too, and so welcoming for my maternity clients.

You may think to yourself, “ I don’t need to take maternity photos, they aren’t that important to me.” BUT, I can promise you that you’ll regret it. I literally haven’t met a single client who had a previous baby and skipped maternity photos that didn’t regret their choice.

Tori is a local tattoo artist. I love all of the artwork on her too! I personally LOVE working with clients with tattoos. I just think it adds even another layer to the images. I for one love texture, and I decided to use a couple of sweaters for her session and layer them over the dresses to add yet another look to her gallery. It had been cool a few days prior to her session, and of course it warmed up the day of, but we rocked those sweaters anyway and I love how those images turned out.
Tori met Hailey, my hair and makeup artist, at her studio prior to meeting me at the bayou. Hailey did a beautiful fresh look for her makeup and i loved the pink lip they chose together. AND HER HAIR, I may be a little jealous of her curls. Her baby girl is here already, and she really is so pretty. She's got chunky cheeks!
We do our best to take care of allllll the things for our Mamas. Beautifully selected gowns, check. Hair and Makeup by a professional artist, check. Seeing your images the same day for studio sessions, check. OR the next day for outdoor sessions, check. We've even got those sliming undergarments on hand so you don't have to buy a maternity pair if you don't want to!
When you book with us, you can basically show up and let us do all the worrying for you. To be honest we don't spend a lot of time worrying either, because we've had a ton of practice and we've got you Mama!

What made you choose Leslie Whitaker for your Maternity session?
The opportunity for a low cost model call was what inspired me to get photos with Leslie. Otherwise I would have missed out completely on getting any professional maternity pictures done.
What were you nervous about going into your session?
I was mostly worried about looking fat in my final photos and not having the beautiful round belly look I had always hoped for in maternity photos. I was also worried that Leslie was going to want me to take my clothes off……... Lol

It’s best to book your maternity session during your second trimester, we typically schedule your session for around 30-34 weeks. Newborns can be scheduled up to 6-8 weeks old, but the earlier the better!

The studio has the most beautiful natural light, I’m really obsessed with it. I’ve been specializing in newborn photos for more than 5 years and I’ve always done a lifestyle style of family photos, and I’m so excited to announce that I am now able to offer a Lifestyle Newborn Session all of the time.
These sessions take less time, because baby is wrapped for most of the session. Baby is also able to be in a natural environment and we capture natural posing as well. She might have always stuck her left hand up in the womb, she’ll probably do that during the session too and I’ll get to capture that. How special will it be to look back on that as she gets older, maybe show it in the slideshow at her rehearsal dinner.
We will still get detail images of lips, lashes, toes and fingers along with gorgeous images of your family with the new addition.
I do my best to make sure the entire experience is as easy as possible for my parents. We have a toy area for older siblings with books, coloring activities and toys for all ages. We even have a stocked fridge with drinks, snacks and treats. Mom can even add on hair and makeup styling by our licensed stylist. Let us handle the fuss, you just show up and relax while we capture your memories.
You’ll be in studio about an hour and then we will meet in person 3-5 days later for an image reveal appointment; we can also do this over zoom. If you’d prefer an online gallery so that you can view in your own time, an additional fee is required. I can also promise you that you’ll LOVE more than 8 images, so just prepare yourself. :)

Brooke drove almost an hour to her session with me and she was absolutely AMAZING! Brooke’s entire gallery deserves to hang in her home. I hope she sees these photos and sees who she truly is. As a mom of 5, I know how hard pregnancy can be on your mental health. Especially when you in it, thank goodness you forget a lot of the bad stuff after the baby is here.
So many of my clients tell me that they didn’t do maternity photos with their first pregnancy, and they regret it. But, don’t let that hold you back. Do it, every time, even if you missed the first pregnancy.
I love studio sessions because we don’t have to fight with the weather, we aren’t hot or cold. It isn’t windy, unless I point the fan at you. :)
I provide EVERYTHING you need for your session. Licensed hair and makeup artist are on staff to pamper you! I even provide what you wear. Sometimes clients bring an item or two that they want to wear, and that is fine too. I just want you to love your experience with me, and of course I want you to love your photos too.

Ela's Newborn Session by Leslie Whitaker, Shreveport Newborn Photographer
Ela is such a sweet blessing. Her parents, Lauren and Eli, are SMITTEN with her. Eli has the biggest smile when he looks at her, and when he looks at Lauren too.
I get so many parents who are having their second baby who regret not getting newborn images for their first baby, and they are determined to have the works the second time. We do maternity photos and newborn and sometimes even an extra family session, or in home fresh 48 session too! Don’t regret missing out on documenting these milestones. You can’t go back and do them, so make sure to get them done right the first time.
Don’t you just LOVE her hair?! I seem to have had a ton of sweet newborns in for newborn sessions lately with hair, and I am here for it!
All of my babies arrive pre-dressed in a white cotton onesie. Every single baby is documented in this timeless way, and parents always choose at least one of these images, but most of the time three of four. There is something about the focus being directly on baby that every one loves, especially me! Doesn’t Ela look so perfect, just like this?
I love documenting details! Ela’s profile, her sweet little hand and her toes! So precious, and things that deserve to be captured during every newborn session in my studio.
Parent images are so special too! I don’t think I’ve had any parents skip this part in a LONNNNNNG time. My newborn sessions come with COMPLIMENTARY professional hair and makeup services, so why skip it? Hailey did Lauren’s hair and makeup for her session and she looks so dang pretty, don’t you think? Motherhood is special. Motherhood is hard too. Pregnancy isn’t always rainbows, though it can be. The best part is you forget all of the hard stuff after baby is born, why else would we do it again?
I’ve know Charde’ for a long time, well at least 5 years. I first met her when she hired me to take her headshots. She was starting a wedding planning business and needed some marketing maternity. That seems like a 100 years ago. Since then I’ve been her engagement, wedding and now maternity photographer. I was so excited when her husband, Andy, texted me to set something up as a surprise for Charde’.
This will be Charde’s second baby, a sweet boy. And, he doens’t have a name yet! If i’m honest we didn’t name our third baby until a couple of hours before we left the hospital. In Louisiana you can leave the hospital without a name, and you have 30 days to figure it out and file for the birth certificate, but I DID NOT want to deal with all that! So, I texted my husband while he was gone to pick up the older kids and told him to send me 3 names, and I’d choose one. LOL
Hopefully Charde’ wont have to deal with that, it’s not any fun not having a thing with your baby’s name on it for his birth day. I can’t wait to meet her sweet boy, and I hope he’s as sweet as Amilia. She’s a complete doll, every time I see her.

I met Katie a few years ago, through a mutual friend. She’s a teacher in Shreveport, she is a Mama to exchange students and a wife to her adorable husband Seth. She’s seriously the cutest thing ever, and now she’s a Mama to a perfect little girl. We got together in February, before both our babies were born, for her maternity photos in Shreveport. Britt did her hair and makeup and we both struggled to breathe, both hugely pregnant. I LOVE maternity photos in my studio. The light is gorgeous in there! Mommin’ is hard, a lot of the time. We lay down at night and think about all the things that we didn’t finish, didn’t do right or certainly could have done better. The laundry is never completely done, and most of the time their are dishes in the sink ( at least at my house). Regardless of all of the shortcomings we think we have, our babies don’t see any of that. Give yourself some grace, take photos with your babies. It won’t be this way for long.

Our babies are going to grow up so quickly. We’ll wake up, and they’ll be off to college, married and having kids of their own. We’ll be celebrating their dream jobs, or their first home purchase. Maria wanted to focus on herself for this maternity session. Her second baby, and Mama wanted to be pampered. She deserved it! Mama brought her own gowns for her session, and I am obsessed with them.
The white gown is actually a wedding gown, and I think I need one or two in my client closet. Then we went a little ‘Mardi Gras’ with the purple gown, and it fit perfectly.
Maria’s hair and makeup is by ‘Beauty by Britney’. Britney is one of my on staff artist, and she rocked this session. :)

I am having my fourth baby. I know the struggles that most women have when their pregnant, you know.. the ones where you just do not feel beautiful. Most of the time you feel swollen or nauseated, overly tired and completely unprepared. Sure, you forget most of the bad stuff once your sweet baby arrives, but those feelings still happened. Neglecting to have beautiful maternity photos taken can be a huge regret. Maybe you don’t do it because you think you won’t like the outcome. I challenge you to do it anyway!
Britney is my makeup artist and she gets to work with my maternity clients, new mom’s and boudoir clients. She is SO good at her job, and I love working with her. She had some ideas for her maternity photos, and I am SO glad she picked me to be her maternity photographer. :)
